i've had a camera in my hands for a decade and a half; it only makes sense to help other people figure out this hobby-turned-passion-turned-career of mine! i love teaching courses because so many aspects of photography were challenging for me to learn, and it's rewarding to see other people excel at those things almost immediately when taught with a certain approach! check out the course options below, or scroll down for more information about 1:1 mentoring options!
camera courses
fancy new camera? i got you -- let's figure that thing out! this course covers basic lighting and composition, as well as proper exposure and shooting in manual mode!
level one: 3 hours in person
each week of this online course focuses on a different subject we learned in level 1. you'll get a pdf lesson along with a weekly assignment, and I'll provide feedback to each student, and your peers can also contribute to the conversation.
level 2: 6 weeks online
editing, editing, editing! this is another in-person course going over my basic lightroom workflow, where you'll learn how to make those images really pop! we'll even learn to remove distractions in photoshop!
level 3: 2 hours in person
"i've taken several photography classes, in person and online, and i never left a class feeling like i knew what i was doing until meeting charlene! she breaks everything down into easy-to-understand pieces, and bringing it all together isn't so scary anymore!"
"the best way to learn!"
yes! my camera courses are largely referral based, so i absolutely offer incentives for booking with a friend or family member. spouses, parents & kids, and besties often take the course together, and this is great for helping each other remember concepts and practice together! reach out to sign up and tell me who you're bringing along!
yes - to an extent! i recommend this for kids no younger than 12 years old (with some exceptions), but that kids aged 12-16 attend with a parent.
yep! i recommend bringing a dslr to class, but I've had people join us with point and shoot cameras, too. this isn't an iphone course.
level one is an in-person course, typically held at a local coffee shop on the weekend! level two is completely online, but this is done on your own time with assignments due weekly. level three is another in-person course, which tends to be much smaller than level one.
